I am so excited to have my Monotype drawing Beauty and the Beast shortlisted and then selected for the 2025 Royal Academy Summer Exhibition!
This print is a monotype drawing of a stem of Hogweed which I was originally attracted to because of its rather beautiful shape. Sadly, however beautiful, this plant is actually misshapen due to the use of chemicals in agriculture, an ongoing debate. This year's theme for the exhibition is Dialogues, chosen by its co-ordinator Farshid Moussavi OBE RA, which aims to explore art's capacity to foster dialogues and sensitivity towards societal concerns like ecology, survival and living together.
