PHOTO LITHOGRAPHY

PHOTO LITHOGRAPHY

The lithographs here are examples of photolithography, made using photosensitive lithographic plates. The image/s (in this case drawings) are exposed onto the plates by means of ultraviolet light and a chemical developing process which then reveals the image on the plate. This image alone will hold the ink which is applied using a roller to a dampened plate (the ink is resisted by the damp plate areas as water and oil (oil based ink) do not mix). The image is printed onto paper using a press, each plate representing a separate colour or layer.
