You will learn various ways to make unique prints, using 'drawing' tools, stencils and textures from other materials and plants too - lots of different ways to make marks, so don't worry if you think you can't draw.
No previous experience is required - the workshop is designed for complete beginners, and a small group size will ensure lots of individual attention. At the end of the day you will have lots of individual prints of your making to take home with you.

Drypoint with Monotype - a two-day workshop
Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking process - your image is ‘drawn’ into the metal plate using a sharp tool, creating a mark with a characteristic burr when printed. The outcome has some similarities to etching, also an intaglio process, marks are made directly onto the plate, but without the chemical processing. The plate therefore retains the image so that multiple prints may be made with potential to be combined with other processes like monoprinting for example.
Your drypoint plate can also be used to create a monoprint or the drypoint image can be
overprinted onto a previously made monoprint image - interesting experimentation with different techniques using your plate.
No previous experience is required - the workshop is designed for complete beginners to enjoy, and a small group size will ensure lots of individual attention. At the end of the two days you will have individual prints of your making to take home with you. An allocation of materials is included in the cost and additional paper may be purchased from the studio.
There will be a home made lunch provided on each of the days to keep you going.
